Building Trust Between Citizens & Police

The “Visit My Police Station” initiative was implemented across all police stations in Thane District on 29 November 2025. This programme marks the first-of-its-kind public outreach initiative in Maharashtra and in India, aimed at strengthening community–police relations through structured, transparent, and citizen-friendly interaction. The initiative was undertaken with the support of the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA), which granted permission for the concept ideated by Global Care Foundation (GCF). The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Thane, played a key role in on-ground mobilisation, while the Thane Police Commissionerate facilitated the implementation across all police stations. The National Service Scheme (NSS) further strengthened the initiative by deploying student volunteers to support public engagement and operational coordination.

The primary objectives of the programme were to provide citizens with direct exposure to the functioning, infrastructure, and services of police stations, thereby promoting transparency and enhancing public trust in policing systems. The initiative aimed to increase public awareness of emergency helplines, departmental responsibilities, and grievance redressal procedures, while simultaneously integrating legal services awareness through the active participation of DLSA. Overall, the programme sought to institutionalise community policing as a participatory and inclusive public service model.

A total of 10,000+ citizens visited various police stations within a span of six hours, demonstrating strong public interest and validating the significance and impact of the programme.
